My artwork takes a critical and often humorous view of political, religious and cultural content. Frequently referencing art history, philosophical perspectives and utilizing religious symbols, my work delves into the relationship between mainstream culture and images and fine art, creating challenging commentaries on our society. Often combining old technology with contemporary digital media, my work transforms familiar visual images into complex layered installations. Though I use a variety of mediums, materials and processes on each project, there is a consistent procedure and order anchored by specific themes, ideas and inspiration. Throughout the process of inquiry and experimentation with each project, new ideas form and can contain the catalyst for the next conceptual endeavor.
I am a visual artist that utilizes photography. I have a particular passion for photograms, tintypes, pinhole and other alternative analog techniques. I live in Portland Oregon with my partner and creative collaborator Anna Daedalus and we work in a 3000 square foot studio and gallery called ROLL-UP Space. Come visit our gallery and studio!
